Australia extends quintozene suspension
The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has renewed its suspension of the fungicide, quintozene, for another year. The APVMA first suspended the registrations in April 2010 due to the presence of undeclared dioxin impurities at levels that might pose risks to applicators. The Authority has received additional data but has yet to make a decision so it is extending the suspension until April 14th 2014. Barmac Industries cancelled its active ingredient approval for quintozene in January, leaving American Vanguard subsidiary Amvac Chemical as the sole technical registrant.
