US container recycling up 8.5% in 2012
US recycling of empty pesticide containers rose by 8.5% last year, according to the industry’s Ag Container Recycling Council (ACRC). Some 8.9 million lbs (4 tonnes) of triple-rinsed plastic containers were collected. That represented more than 15 million containers, all of which were recycled into ACRC-approved products such as field drain tiles. The ACRC added two states to its nationwide network, bringing the total served to 42 for 2013. The Council marked its 20th anniversary last year ( Agrow No 635, p 12).
