Old pesticides collected in Alberta
Farmers in the southern half of the Canadian province of Alberta turned in more than 66 tonnes of obsolete or unwanted pesticides over a five-day collection period late last year. The collection was organised by the industry’s CleanFarms waste stewardship organisation. Collections in the northern part of the province will take place this year. Farmers in Alberta have turned in nearly 204 tonnes of obsolete pesticides since the collection programme began in 1998.
