Arysta debuts Everest herbicide in South Africa
Arysta LifeScience has launched its herbicide, Everest 70 WG (flucarbazone 70%), in South Africa. It is a water-dispersible granule formulation for the control of green foxtail ( Setaria viridis), wild oats ( Avena fatua) and certain broadleaf weeds in spring, durum and winter wheat. The product is aimed at combating “severe resistance” to already available herbicides, the company says. It notes that some 400,000 ha are sown with wheat in the Cape area of South Africa, and double that across the country. Arysta already sells Everest in China, North America and parts of Europe and South America. The company acquired Everest from Bayer CropScience in 2002 ( Agrow No 413, p 4).
