Spanish agchem market down 5% in 2012
The Spanish agrochemical market fell by some 4.9% to €646 million($843 million at the current rate) in 2012, according to the national crop protection association, the Aepla. Economic uncertainty in the country and “one of the most significant droughts in recent years” combined to impact sales last year, the association says. Sales left the market a little above that of two years previously. The Aepla is composed of 22 companies, the latest member, Comercial Quimica Masso, joining last year ( Agrow No 647, p 12). It has not provided a breakdown of annual sales by pesticide segment.
