Monsanto gets OK on maize facility restart
Monsanto has won a ruling from a regional court in Argentina to continue to build its maize processing plant near the city of Cordoba, regional newspaper el Liberal reports. The city’s High Court overturned an injunction “on a cautionary principle” from a lower court earlier this year suspending construction of the maize drying facility ( Agrow No 659, p 19). The latest ruling grants a “restrictive” licence to implement the first phase of the project under environmental regulations. The company had invested Peso 1,600 million ($318 million) into the 27 ha site.
