New Zealand request for ant insecticide
The New Zealand Environmental Protection Authority has received an application to allow the import or manufacture of the insecticide, Bithor (imidacloprid 55 g/litre + bifenthrin 45 g/litre), for the control of ants around domestic and commercial buildings. The New Zealand pest control company, Ensystex NZ (Auckland), would import the suspension concentrate formulation from Australia or the US in sealed containers that would not require repacking. The combination of active ingredients with different modes of action would minimise the risk of resistance developing, the company points out. The application is open to public comment until June 13th.
