EU JRC outlines ED criteria

The European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) has outlined “key scientific elements” for identifying endocrine disruptors (EDs). In a new report, the JRC aims to provide the scientific basis for criteria to be applied across all relevant pieces of legislation. Endocrine disruption properties are among the new hazard criteria that could block EU agrochemical and biocide registrations, but the lack of a harmonised approach worries the industry ( Agrow No 663, pp10-12). The European Commission has to propose specific criteria by the end of this year.
