US EPA OKs two biopesticides
The US EPA has proposed the approval of Becker Underwood’s (part of BASF) biofungicide, Integral ( Bacillus pumilus strain BU F-33 5%), for use as a seed treatment. It is intended for use on crops such as tomatoes and carrots to induce systemic acquired resistance to fungal pathogens. The company applied for a tolerance exemption for all food commodities. The registration decision is subject to a 15-day public comment period ending May 28th.
