US OKs two Phyllom biopesticides
The US EPA has proposed the approval of two biopesticides based on Bacillus thuringiensis subsp galleriae strain SDS-502 from US biopesticide company Phyllom (Mountain View, California). GrubGone! G is a 10% granule formulation and BeetleGone! is an 85% water-dispersible granule formulation. Both are for use against coleopteran pests on a wide range of crops, turf and ornamentals. The company has recently been granted an experimental use permit to test Beetlegone! under the BoreGone! name for the control of emerald ash borers (Agrilus planipennis) in forest trees. The proposed approvals are subject to a 15-day comment period until June 4th.
