Stakeholders say REACH, other regulations may mean pesticide reformulation

The European Union's REACH regulation — the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals — could potentially lead to fewer inert ingredients being available and result in the reformulation of some pesticide products, according to Dow AgroSciences' Cheryl Cleveland and John Dawson. But companies like BASF and Syngenta Crop Protection don't appear to be too concerned about a decrease in the availability of inerts, and in any case are prepared if reformulation is warranted.
