Senators question EPA authority over dispersants as new legislation promised

EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson admitted in Senate testimony last week she is not completely certain whether she has the authority to order BP to stop using the dispersants that have been deployed to break up the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. At the same time, Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D–N.J.) announced he would soon introduce legislation giving EPA more authority over the use of dispersants.
