Deadline for notification of SVHCs in articles approaching
The law firm Keller and Heckman this week offered a reminder that notifications of substances of very high concern in articles under REACH are due June 1 for SVHCs already on the candidate list for authorization. Chemicals added to the candidate list after that date must be notified within six months of their inclusion. The law firm notes that notification of SVHCs in articles is required when the substance is: on the candidate list; present in all articles produced or imported by one actor in an amount exceeding 1 metric ton per year; and present in articles above a concentration of 0.1% weight by weight of the article. However, notification of a substance in an article isn't required if it has been registered for that use, nor is it required for a substance in articles produced or imported after the chemical was added to the candidate list.
