Argentina regulates co-packaged pesticides
Argentina has set new labeling and registration requirements for co-packaged pesticides. Such packs contain "two or more units of pesticide and/or fertilizer products in national registers that are sold together, in order to be applied simultaneously, and carry different brand names than that of the pack." Regulation 121/2011 stipulates that: a pack's brand name must be different than those of its constituent products and include the word "pack"; if either of the constituent products in the pack is registered to a different company from the applicant, the latter must submit a signed note from that registrant confirming that its product is contained within; and labels must include the new brand name, registration number, quantity and capacity of each of the products contained within, as well as use instructions. Furthermore, the authorities may request new efficacy, toxicology, residue and other data on the packs. The new rules apply from March 21. Registrants of packs pre-dating the new regulation will have one year to comply following the regulation's entry into force. The same registrants have 30 days from the regulation's entry into force to present to the authorities their stock of labels for previously registered packs.
