New requirements for pesticide labels go into effect in Australia
As of last month, registrants of agricultural and veterinary chemicals in Australia must comply with new conditions to get marketed product labels approved. Registrants must ensure their label: is attached to the container before supplying the product; states the batch number and if applicable the manufacture and expiration dates; and complies with relevant Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority labeling codes. Registrants also must ensure their label does not contain information contrary to what is required, or information that is misleading or deceptive. The regulations imposing the new conditions also require registrants to retain a copy of each label, record information about the use of each label and provide both to APVMA upon written request.
