Turkey toughens pesticide stance

Turkey's agriculture ministry has banned the use of nine chemicals in the production of tomatoes, peppers, squash and pears. The ministry issued a circular letter to all provincial offices asking officials to warn all exporters, producers and farmers about the ban, reported the Anatolia News Agency. The prohibited substances are carbendazim, clofentenize, diafenthiuron, dimethoate, formentanate, malathion, procymidon, tetradifen and thiophanate-methyl.
