Slovenia urged to reverse ban on neonicotinoid pesticides

Farmers in Slovenia this week called on the government to reverse its ban on corn seed treated with neonicotinoid insecticides, the Slovenian Press Agency reported May 4. The temporary ban came April 28 following beekeepers in the Pomurge region reporting massive bee deaths; clothianidin was blamed in several of the cases. Farmers say there is no conclusive link between the bee losses and treated corn seed.
