House Energy and Commerce Committee votes to extend chemical security rules through 2018

The House Energy and Commerce Committee approved chemical security legislation (H.R. 908) Thursday that would extend existing rules through 2018, a move welcomed by industry stakeholders who contend lawmakers should resist making major changes to the program. The panel passed the bill by a vote of 33-16, with five Democrats joining the committee's Republican majority in favor of the legislation.
