Man pleads guilty in falsely labeled organic corn case

Harold Chase, of Springfield, Ore., on Dec. 6 pleaded guilty to wire fraud in relation to his sale of more than 4.2 million pounds of corn falsely labeled as organically grown, according to a U.S. Department of Justice news release. By falsely labeling the corn as organic, he doubled his profits, selling the corn for more than $450,000. Much of the corn was purchased by Oregon companies as organic feed for livestock, DOJ says.
