Stakeholders volley over whether science supports cancellation of methyl iodide

Amid mass comment campaigns and tens of thousands of signatures in support of an Earthjustice petition seeking the suspension and cancellation of all uses of methyl iodide, the soil fumigant's registrant Arysta LifeScience, agriculture groups, individual growers and others are urging EPA to decline the petition. They assert the fumigant's registration is based on sound science, provides a needed agricultural tool in the face of methyl bromide's phase-out and can be used safely.
