EPA seeks 2014 CUE applications for methyl bromide
Allocations as well as critical stock allowances - stocks manufactured before 2005 from which EPA allows limited sales - have been steadily declining. The 2011 proposed allocation for production and import of the chemical is 1,500 metric tons, 5.9% of the 1991 baseline and a 23.3% drop from the 1,956 metric tons approved in 2010. The proposed distribution of critical stock allowances for 2011 is 482 metric tons, a 53.1% drop from the 1,028 metric tons approved for 2010. As of the end of 2010, EPA says pre-2005 manufactured inventory stood at 1,803 metric tons, down 41% from 2009 and 82% from 2005.
