Head of IRIS program asks for patience in full implementation of NAS recommendations
EPA has "made a lot of progress" in implementing some of the
reforms the National Research Council recommended to the agency
regarding its Integrated Risk Information System, but longer-term
goals such as changing the weight of evidence approach will require
more time, IRIS Acting Director Vincent Cogliano said last week.
EPA is rolling out changes to its chemical assessment program, seeking to comply with a series of recommendations the National Research Council offered in Chapter 7 of its review of the draft IRIS assessment for formaldehyde, published in 2011.
