Study targets psyllid migration patterns

Possible migration patterns of potato psyllids are the subject of a study under way by researchers from the US Texas A&M University (Amarillo). The work is seeking to determine if the pests migrate from one location to another, originating in northern Mexico and moving northward as the potato season progresses, or if resident local populations exist throughout potato growing regions. Knowing whether the insects are migratory or local will facilitate pest management, the researchers note.
