New imprimatins identified

Researchers at Japan’s Riken Plant Science Center (Yokohama) have identified five new immune-priming compounds (imprimatins) in the model plant, Arabidopsis thaliana, which enhance disease resistance without impacting plant growth or crop yield. The researchers used new high-throughput screening techniques on more than 10,000 compounds in a bid to identify previously unknown compounds that could prime resistance to the bacterial pathogen, Pseudomonas syringae, without directly activating defence genes.
