UN accord on methyl bromide

Two UN agencies have joined forces to minimise emissions of the ozone-depleting fumigant, methyl bromide. The FAO’s International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) and the UN Environment Programme’s Ozone Secretariat have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at promoting wider implementation of existing recommendations on the use of methyl bromide and supporting efforts to develop alternative treatments.
