Calcium phosphide seen as methyl bromide alternative

Research from China’s Shandong Agricultural University (Tai’an) has shown that calcium phosphide is a realistic alternative to methyl bromide to control soil nematodes. It is already widely used as a fumigant in grain stores. The researchers compared the effectiveness of calcium phosphide, avermectin and methyl bromide in controlling the soil nematode, Meloidogyne incognita, in tomato field trials.
