Pyrimorph resistance risk low in pepper blight

The risk of the plant pathogen, pepper blight ( Phytophthora capsici), evolving resistance to the fungicide, pyrimorph, is “low to moderate”, according to a study from China’s Beijing-based Agricultural University. Pyrimorph is a propenone fungicide that disrupts respiration cell wall synthesis. It was approved in China in 2008 for use on tomatoes and peppers. Current annual production is around 20 tonnes, sufficient to treat some 49,000 ha.
