Uruguay agrochemical imports down 44% in 2009
Uruguayan agrochemical imports fell heavily in value in 2009 despite a rise in volumes, compared with the previous year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture. Total imports plunged by 43.6% to $107.4 million, dipping below 2007 levels ($112.3 million). The figures followed a sharp jump in trade in 2008 ( Agrow No 585, p 20). Imports of formulated products were 38% down on 2008. All product segments saw a drop, despite slightly higher volumes for formulated products and active ingredients.
