Brazil agchem market rising in dollars
Agrochemical sales in Brazil rose 6.6% in US dollar terms in the first nine months of 2010 to $4,490 million. That came despite a 9% fall in national currency terms, the agrochemical industry trade association, the Sindag, reports. However, the latest figures show that sales had accelerated towards the present planting season, after US dollar pesticide revenues were flat after seven months ( Agrow No 601, p 26). Sales remain around 11% below the corresponding period of the country’s record pesticide market year of 2008 ( Agrow No 567, p 13).
