Mixed fortunes for Australian crops

Australian estimates of sorghum plantings have been lowered following the widespread flooding in Queensland, but the cotton crop is expected to be larger than forecast in December. Flooding damaged some 15-20% of the 350,000 ha of sorghum in southern Queensland ( Agrow No 608, p 17), but much of that has been replanted, according to the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES).
