Spanish cereal area stable
The Spanish small-grain cereal area is to inch higher this year, according to the latest Ministry of Agriculture survey. It predicts that final winter cereal planting will reach 5.6 million ha, just 0.1% up on last year. That would put the area as flat for the past three years. The 2009 area was just 800 ha higher, while the previous year was far higher at 6.2 million ha ( Agrow No 563, p 15). The latest issued estimates were compiled on January 31st.
