Indian market up 18% in 2010
The pesticide market in India in 2010 rose by 17.5% to Rs 69,945 million ($1,557 million at the current rate), estimates the chairman and managing director of Isagro Asia, Partho Lahiri. The estimate does not include sales of plant growth regulators and biostimulants. Insecticides remained the largest category, accounting for over 55% of the market and growing by 19.1% to Rs 38,644 million ($860 million). Fungicides were up by some 8% to Rs 15,260 million ($340 million), while herbicides displayed the highest growth of nearly a quarter to Rs 16,041 million ($357 million).
