Aceto's agchem sales up 20%
The US company, Aceto (Port Washington, New York), recorded a 19.7% increase in agrochemical sales to $47.2 million in the year ended June 30th 2011. The rise is partly attributed to the herbicide, glyphosate, which was introduced in the third quarter of fiscal 2010. However, entry into the market was more challenging than expected and the company has not factored the product in its future business plans ( Agrow No 619, p2). Sales were also boosted by the herbicide, asulam, for use on sugar cane and the introduction of a herbicide and an insecticide in the third quarter of fiscal 2011. Agrochemicals accounted for 11.4% of Aceto’s total revenues, which was the same proportion as in fiscal 2010.
