Chinese agchem production down 19% in July

Production of pesticide active ingredients in China fell by 18.9% month-on-month to 67,983.6 tonnes during July this year, reports the Chinese Crop Protection Industry Association (CCPIA). The province of Jiangsu remained the leader, accounting for 43.8% of total production. Insecticide production in the province dropped by 26.4% during July, the report adds. China's second largest province in terms of pesticide production was Shandong, which manufactured 8,191.7 tonnes in July, down 24.7% on the previous month. China produced 2.7 million tonnes of agrochemicals in 2010, up 18.8% on the previous year, a new high for the industry ( Agrow No 614, pp 28-29).
