BASF Q2 sales shoot up 22%
A strong season in the northern hemisphere led to BASF recording a 21.7% sales increase to €1,467 million ($1,795 million at the current rate) in the second quarter of 2012. Volumes were up 14% and the company was able to increase volumes in all regions. Prices increased by 2%. A positive currency effect of 6% helped in securing a 20.4% rise in the earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) to €449 million ($549 million). EBIT soared by over a quarter to €414 million ($507 million).
