Argentine soybean acreage up 3%
Soybean planting in Argentina will have risen 3% to 19.4 million ha in 2012/13 compared with last season, the Ministry of Agriculture estimates. Almost a third of the crop had been planted by the time of the mid-November survey, the Ministry’s statistics office, the SIIA, says. Excessive humidity in some areas, and surface dryness in others has held back planting, it notes. The October survey was too soon to estimate soybean plantings ( Agrow No 652, p 16).
