Spanish 2012 agchem market hit by drought
Sales of herbicides and fungicides suffered in Spain last year as “one of the most significant droughts in recent years” impacted the agrochemical market, according to the national crop protection association, the Aepla. The Spanish agrochemical market fell by some 4.9% to €646 million ($843 million at the current rate) in 2012. Fungicide sales were off by 9.7% and herbicides by 7.3%, but insecticide business inched higher, the Aepla told Agrow. Sales of other products dropped by nearly 1.9%.
