ISK’s flonicamid approaches EU Annex I - update
The EU Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health has voted in favour of EU registration of Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha (ISK)’s new insecticide, flonicamid. Once confirmed by the European Commission, the active ingredient will be added to Annex I of the EU agrochemical registration Directive (91/414). Flonicamid holds provisional approvals in several EU countries, as Teppeki, for use on a range of crops. The Commission has had to extend these three-year approvals twice to avoid them expiring before the EU registration process is completed ( Agrow No 588, p 11). The flonicamid application was originally submitted in 2003 by ISK Biosciences Europe to France as rapporteur member state.
