Japan’s agchem sales decline slows
Japanese agrochemical sales fell by 2.7% to ¥278,577 million ($3,298 million at the current rate) in the nine months to June 30th 2010, according to the Japan Crop Protection Association. That reflects a slight recovery. Sales were 6.3% lower for the first six months of the pesticide year (ending September 30th), and by 3% by the end of May ( Agrow No 599, p 19).Volume declines for the nine months were steeper, down 6.9% to 156,687 tonnes. But that was an improvement on the 10% fall for the first six months and the 7.6% for the first eight months ( Agrow ibid).
