Japan’s 2010 pesticide sales down 2%
Agrochemical sales in Japan for the 2010 pesticide year (ended September 30th) fell by 1.9% to ¥324,476 million ($3,939 million at the current rate), according to the Japan Crop Protection Association. It was the first time since 2007 that the year-on-year value of sales had fallen. Volumes were down by 6.1% to 194,227 tonnes. Sales in the 2009 pesticide year fell by 5.4% in volume terms but rose 2.3% in value terms ( Agrow No 586, p 19).
