Vietnam’s first-quarter agchem imports down 6.5%

Vietnam imported agrochemicals valued at $131 million in the first quarter of 2011, a decrease of 6.5% compared with the same period last year, reports the Chinese newswire, China-ASEAN Web. China and India are the largest suppliers of pesticides to Vietnam, but during the period, import values from these countries fell by 26.9% and 3.7%, respectively. In 2010, China exported some 54,638 tonnes of agrochemicals to Vietnam, at a value of $183 million ( Agrow No 613, pp 18-19).
