Arysta launches Hokko’s Kasumin in Pakistan
Arysta LifeScience has launched Japanese company Hokko Chemical’s fungicide/bactericide, Kasumin 2SL (kasugamycin), in Pakistan. It is initially being targeted for use on rice to control rice blast ( Pyricularia grisea) and bacterial leaf blight ( Xanthomonas oryzae pv oryzae). Rice is one of the most important crops in Pakistan and contributes significantly to its foreign exchange earnings. Arysta has been marketing kasugamycin in South-East Asian countries including Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar. It aims to reach a 20% market share in rice fungicides in Pakistan within the next three years. The company also plans to expand the use of Kasumin to other potential rotational crops such as vegetables, potatoes and citrus to protect against bacterial diseases.
