Brazil agchem industry hits back at Anvisa’s media debate

The Brazilian agrochemical industry has complained that regulators are failing to promote the correct use of pesticides, and rather cast doubt on the necessity for their use. The agrochemical industry association, the Andef, has reacted to media presentations from the national health surveillance agency, the Anvisa, following its recent report of huge irregularities in pesticide residues on fruit and vegetables ( Agrow No 630, p 16). The media has interviewed the Anvisa on the report’s claim of a link between pesticides and certain diseases, the Andef says.
