Brazil OKs Bayer’s GlyTol LibertyLink cotton
Brazil has provisionally approved Bayer CropScience’s genetically modified glyphosate- and glufosinate-tolerant Glytol LibertyLink (GHB614xLL25) cotton. The national technical commission for biosafety, the CTNBio, recommended commercial authorisation of the stacked GM cotton at its June meeting. It voted 16 in favour and three against approval. The commission’s approval requires ratification from the government’s 11-Ministry strong biosafety council, the CNBS, for full authorisation. That decision should be made within 60 days.
