Brazil OKs Cheminova’s Authority
Cheminova has been granted Brazilian approval of its combination fungicide, Authority (azoxystrobin + flutriafol), for use on several crops including soybeans, cotton and wheat. The combination is a unique mixture in the country, Cheminova says. The company sees the approval as “absolutely key” to its success in Brazil this year, marking its entry into the national azoxystrobin market. It expects use extensions to crops such as maize and bananas “in the coming years”. The combination was first approved over a decade ago in the UK and Ireland, where Syngenta legacy company Zeneca marketed it as Amistar Gem for use on wheat and barley. Cheminova bought rights to flutriafol from Syngenta some ten years ago ( Agrow No 373, p 1).
