EU approval for Andermatt’s viral insecticide
Full EU approval has been granted to Swiss biopesticide company Andermatt Biocontrol’s bioinsecticide, Adoxophyes orana granulosis virus strain BV-0001. The active ingredient will be added to the annex of approved ais under the EU agrochemical Regulation (1107/2009) on February 1st 2013. Andermatt submitted its application in 2004 for use on pome fruit against summer fruit tortrix moths ( A orana). The ai’s three-year provisional approvals were extended in 2011 to allow time for the EU registration process to be completed ( Agrow No 622, p 13). It is approved in Germany, Italy and Slovenia.
