China’s six-month agchem imports up 18%
China's six-month pesticide imports increased by 17.6% year-on-year to $338.3 million, according to figures released by China’s General Administration of Customs. Volumes were up by just under a quarter (23.9%) to 38,688 tonnes. Fungicides, the largest value category, increased strongly in value and volume terms, up 36.4% to $147.7 million and by 27.7% to 13,507 tonnes, respectively. First-half imports of insecticides also saw significant growth, up 20.5% to $87 million and 42.1% to 5,348 tonnes. Herbicide imports declined in value terms, down 6.5% to $76.7 million. Volume imports of herbicides increased 23% to 14,670 tonnes. China's first-quarter pesticide imports increased by 13.5% to $170 million, at an average import price of $8,212.60/tonne ( Agrow No 641, p 19).
