Mozambique studies Brazil’s recycling
Agriculture and environmental authorities from Mozambique have travelled to Brazil to learn from the country’s methods for cleaning up pesticide waste and recycling of pesticide containers, official news agency Agencia Brasil reports. Brazil leads the world in pesticide container recycling, according to its recycling organisation, the inpEV. It collected and recycled over 37,000 tonnes last year ( Agrow No 657, p 12), and aims to hit 40,000 tonnes this year. The national system became legally binding a decade ago, involving all in the product chain from agrochemical manufactures and retailers to users ( Agrow No 631, p 15). The Mozambique party will visit a facility that turns used containers into new ones.
