Mexican approval for PHC's Harpin
The US-based, UK-listed bioproducts company, Plant Health Care (PHC - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), has received Mexican approval for its disease resistance activator, Harpin αβ, for use on a wide range of crops, including maize, dry beans and sugar cane. The registration marks another milestone in expanding the use of the technology in new markets, according to PHC chief executive officer Paul Schmidt. “We will continue to work closely with our subsidiary in Mexico and commercial partners to develop these opportunities further,” Mr Schmidt says. The company plans to divest its non-core business to focus on Harpin αβ and its drought resistance product, Myconate (Agrow No 661, p 3).
