Agric MEPs urge promotion of “bee-friendly” agchems
The European Commission has been urged to support the use of “bee-friendly” agrochemicals and the provision of special training programmes for farmers on the possible effects of pesticides on bees. The call comes in a resolution passed by members of the European Parliament’s Agriculture Committee in October. The MEPs also ask the Commission to conduct objective research on the possible negative effects of genetically modified crops on honeybee health. The resolution will be put to a full parliamentary vote in November.
